Mardi Gras is a tradition that dates back thousands of years to pagan celebrations of spring and fertility. It is celebrated around the world today in Brazil, Venice but most importantly the United States!

Legend has it that the first Mardi Gras took place in 1699 when French Exploror's landed in what is now known as New Orleans, Louisiana aka NOLA. However, Mobile, Al. was the first city on record to celebrate Mardi Gras in 1703 about a year after the city was founded. Mobile claims that they introduced NOLA to Mardi Gras years later in 1857 when members of the Cowbellian de Rakin Society came down and assisted them in forming the Krewe of Comus. Mobile may have showed us how to do Mardi Graw but we sure rock it now!
